Note: Grade weights are preliminary and subject to revision. Final breakdown distributed at the start of the semester.

In-Class Activities
Brief structured activities, such as a listening response, a prompt on the reading, or a quick tool demo. Graded on completion and engagement.
Lightning Talk
One short in-class presentation per student (10 minutes), scheduled during Unit II. Students share something informing their project and take questions from the class. Topics may include a tool, a paper, a case study, or a recent development.
Project Proposal and Developmental Milestones
A written project proposal submitted in Unit II, followed by structured check-in milestones throughout the semester. This creates multiple points for instructor feedback before final submission.
Final Project
A student-designed project developed over the semester. May take many forms: composition, performance, critical analysis, tool development, or a machine learning prototype. Should engage directly with the course’s interdisciplinary themes. Full guidelines distributed at the end of Unit I.
Final Presentation / Concert / Exhibition
Completed projects presented in a public-facing format at semester’s end. This can take the form of a concert, gallery-style exhibition, or formal presentation, depending on the cohort’s work.
Conference Abstract and Outline Graduate only
A conference-style abstract and outline situating the final project within relevant scholarly literature. Supports graduate students in developing work toward a submission or publication.
Participation and Peer Feedback
Active engagement in discussion and peer review throughout the semester. Students offer substantive feedback during in-class work sessions and contribute to a collaborative critical environment. Students engage in at least one formal, structured peer review process.
